Year 1

Year 1 have had such fun this week, finding the maths all around us.
 

The first thing we did this week was plan a route on Google Maps for Miss Poole.  Did you know that a postcode helps you find exactly where you are going? The letters and numbers tell you information about the place you are visiting, for example B29 7PN.  The B tells us it is in Birmingham, 29 tells us which part and 7PN tells us the street and houses. We then used the map to direct Miss Poole using the vocabulary “left”, “right”, “turn” and “straight on”.  We really hope she finds her way!

During our Outdoor learning session, we used our knowledge of spatial awareness to draw maps of the forest and build some structures.
