Key Stage 2 Outcomes 2019 - Letter from Dr Tim O'Neill - Director of Education and Skills, Birmingham City Council

A huge thank you is extended to our wonderful children and staff who have worked so hard to ensure that the standards and results are the very best that they can be for everyone and are the best that we have ever had at St Edward's. We want our pupils to achieve their potential, whilst enjoying a broad and balanced engaging curriculum.

If our children are happy and engaged, they will learn!  (Sept 2019)

In January 2019, we were named within the Top Ten of Schools in Birmingham in the Real Schools' Guide 2019

Children read a list of 40 real and 'alien' words, a score of 32 or high on the phonic screening test is a pass and shows that they are working at the expected standard.

All Year 1 pupils are required to complete the Phonic Screening Check in June. This is a Government check to see if children are making appropriate progress in their phonological development. Pupils that do not pass the Phonic Screening Check in Year 1 must retake the test in Year 2. Children who do not pass this test by the end of Year 2 continue to receive support on phonological development in Year 3.

The Multiplication Tables Check (MTC) is a Key Stage 2 assessment which takes place in the summer term for pupils in Year 4.  The test consists of 25 questions and assesses a pupil's ability to recall the times tables up to 12 x 12.  Thee is no official pass mark but higher scores indicate greater proficiency.  The mean scores for each school are compared against the national results.
