Outdoor Day 12th November
We had the most wonderful day on the 12th November learning outside as a team.
We thought about our creation unit in RE and how important it is to look after the natural world God created. We went into our forest school and collected all the litter that was ruining the beauty of His creation and making the forest unsafe for God's creation.
Next we worked in teams to make a safe habitat for a bird. We had to use all natural materials which seemed impossible at first but they all looked fantastic by the time we'd finished. We were so proud of ourselves!
After lunch we completed problem solving games which involved us running, getting wet, shouting and a lot of resilience! We did so well and had fun! Even Mrs Cronin and Mrs Crehan struggled to transport the water!
Finally we hunted for mini beasts. We had to search really carefully around our school grounds and think where mini beasts would choose to live and rest. We used magnifying glasses to see the tiniest mini beast families.
We had such an enjoyable day and can't wait for the next one
This half term our P.E lesson is every Thursday afternoon. We are completing games outside so winter P.E uniform can be worn. Your child can wear:
- Jogging bottoms (blue)
- School P.E t-shirt
- School cardigan or jumper
We have our Outdoor Learning Day on Tuesday 12th November.
As we can never predict what the weather will be like from day to day we ask you to try, where possible, to supply the following, a waterproof coat and trousers, wellington or walking boots, a long sleeved top, long trousers and a warm jumper. Please ensure all clothes sent in are old as there is a strong possibility of the children getting muddy! If the children could please come to school wearing their own clothes on this day it will save time getting them changed, they will also need to bring a change of clothes for the end of the day as they will, more than likely, get muddy.
If children have water resistant gloves (disposable are fine) that they could bring in as well that would be really helpful for one activity we have planned. Do not worry though as we will have plenty of spares.
Welcome to Class 1C. We are a class of 30 children working with Mrs Crehan, Miss Costello, Mrs Cronin, Mrs Connaughton and Mrs Curtis. We have settled in really well and our routines are starting to embed. In the morning, the children are responsible for:
- putting their reading diaries in the box
- putting their drinks in the box
- putting their book bags away
- hanging their coats up
As well as other roles and responsibilities they have been given.
As the children are now Year 1 we are encouraging them to try and be a bit more independent and to think about what they can do themselves to prepare for the school day. Please could you help us by checking that we always have our correct uniform, drink bottle and reading bag with our reading book and diary every day?
We have been working extremely hard on our topic ‘Toys Through Time’ and have enjoying drawing and writing about our favourite toys and toys from the past. Please look at our Curriculum Overview Sheet on the website so you can have as much information as possible about upcoming topics.
We would like to extend a warm invitation to any parents, or family members, who could perhaps volunteer some time to help us in class. This would be very appreciated in terms of hearing our children read, walking us up to church when we have Mass, or to come on trips with us. Perhaps you love craft/art or have another skill that would be us full to our learning? If so, please do not hesitate to contact us. A huge thank you to those parents who are already volunteering!
If you have any questions or queries, please come and talk to one of the team. We look forward to sharing our special Year 1 journey with you.
